GWM ORA Cat Chargers & Charging guide

Charging options for the GWM ORA cat

From factory the Ora cat comes with a Type 2 10A charger that will charge at 8 amps. This charger will charge from 0 to 100% in around 23 hours for the 48kWH version and 37 hours for the 64kWH extended range version.
On a full charge you can expect around 310km range & 420km for the long range.

There are a couple of options for charging faster at home.

  1. The 16A T2 charger with the Blue Cee plug. Great if you have a 16A socket. If you don’t have one get a quote from your local electrician to have one installed.
  2. The better options are the wall mount chargers that can be mounted outside. such as the  32A Wall mounted charger or the 7kw Wall charger with wifi

GWM ORA Charge times

The standard charger that comes with the car will suit some people. Although the charge time looks long, not many people will use the full charge in a day. It comes down to how many km you do per day. The standard charger will add around 10km per hour. Where as a wall charger will add 35km per hour.

Estimate charge timing comparison from 20% to 80%. After 80% charging can slow depending on the temperature of the batteries, also as the battery gets full the car balances the cells so charging will slow as it approaches 100%

Public charging the GMW ORA

There is a couple of ways to charge your Ora in public.

CCS fast charger. This is a DC charger and will charge your car from 20% to 80% in 45min. No need to bring a cable as the charging station has this hard wired. To used these public stations download the Chargenet App or if charging at a Z station download the Z App for Android Apple

Type 2 Public charger are very common, you will find these at Malls, Gyms, Hotels, Motels and Public carparks. Most of these chargers you need to bring your own cable.

Charging your Ora Cat from a public Type 2 Mennekes charger.

The ORA supports 11kW so you will need one of our Type 2 to Type 2 22kw  charge cables to make use of these chargers.

The majority of free public chargers use the Type 2 Socket, so this cable will allow you to use the chargers. Note Some public charges have a Type 2 hard wired so a cable is not needed 100% of the time. If you already have a Type 1 charger at home we can supply an adapter so you can charge your ORA and Japanese import EV.
