The best home charger for the BYD Atto 3 is a 7kW (32A) wall charger — around four times faster than the factory-supplied charger, taking the Standard Range from 20–100% in ~6 hours. About the BYD Atto 3
From the factory the Atto 3 comes with a Type 2 10A charger that charges at 8 amps. BYD call this an emergency charger — it takes the Standard Range model around 28 hours to charge from 0 to 100%. On a full charge you can expect around 320km (Standard Range) or 420km (Long Range).
Two options for charging faster at home: a 16A charger (caravan / commando style) if you have (or can install) a 16A socket, or — the fastest option — a wall-mounted charger such as our 7kW wall charger with cable (32A) or the 7kW wall charger with socket (32A), which can be mounted outside.

The factory charger adds around 10km of range per hour, whereas a 7kW wall charger adds around 35km per hour — the difference between a multi-day charge and a comfortable overnight one. Whether the factory charger is enough comes down to how many kilometres you drive per day.

Note — the Atto 3 sleeping bug: the Atto 3 can go into a deep sleep that a charger will not wake it from. To use scheduled charging, set the schedule in the BYD app, not on the charger.

The Atto 3 fast charges via CCS2, taking the car from 20% to 80% in around 45 minutes. DC charging stations have the cable hard-wired, so there’s no need to bring your own.
Type 2 public chargers are found at supermarkets, malls, gyms, hotels and public carparks. Most of these require you to bring your own cable.

The Atto 3 has a single-phase onboard charger, so a Type 2 to Type 2 cable (7kW-rated) is the right choice. The majority of free public chargers use a Type 2 socket, so this cable lets you use them — though some public chargers have a Type 2 cable hard-wired, so a cable isn’t needed 100% of the time.

It depends on your daily kilometres. The factory 8A charger adds around 10km of range per hour, so it can work for short commutes — but a full charge takes 24–29 hours, which is why BYD call it an emergency charger.
The Atto 3 has a known bug where it goes into a deep sleep and a charger cannot wake it. To use scheduled charging, set the schedule in the BYD app rather than on the charger.
