Charging options for the new BYD Atto 3

From factory the Atto comes with a Type 2 10A charger that will charge at 8 amps. They call this an emergency charger as it will take the standard range model  28 hours to charge from 0 to 100%.
On a full charge you can expect around 320km range. There are a couple of options for charging faster at home.

  1. The 16A T2 charger with the Blue Cee plug. Great if you have a 16A socket. If you don’t have one get a quote from your local electrician to have one installed.
  2. The other faster option are the wall mount chargers that can be mounted outside. Such as the 32A Wall mounted charger with cable or the Smart EV charger with Wifi socket version

Atto 3 Charge times

Although the charger that comes with the car is referred to a Emergency charger, It might be ok for you. It comes down to how many km you do per day. The standard charger will add around 10km per hour. Where as a wall charger will add 35km per hour.

Estimate charge timing comparison from 20% to 80%. After 80% charging can slow depending on the temperature of the batteries, also as the battery gets full the car balances the cells so charging will slow as it approaches 100%
