Plug-in EV chargers NZ
Portable plug-in EV chargers that run from a standard NZ socket or a caravan plug — no electrician, no installation.
About plug-in EV chargers
The 10A models plug straight into a normal three-pin wall socket and add roughly 10km of range per hour. That’s around 100km overnight, which covers most daily commutes without any electrical work at all. They’re the simplest way to start charging at home, and they travel with you.
The 16A models plug into a blue CEE caravan socket and roughly double that, at about 3.6kW. Great if you already have a caravan plug, or you’re happy to have an electrician fit one — considerably cheaper than a hardwired wall charger.
Smart versions add adjustable current and a delay timer, so you can dial the draw down on an older circuit or push charging into off-peak hours. If your EV already schedules charging from its own app, the plain plug-and-charge models do the same job for less.
Portable chargers suit renters, second cars, PHEVs with small batteries, and anyone who wants a backup in the boot. For a large-battery EV charged daily, a wall charger will serve you better.
