V2L Vehicle to Load adapters NZ
V2L adapters turn your EV into a mobile power source, drawing from the traction battery to run standard 230V appliances.
About V2L adapters
Vehicle-to-Load works on EVs that support discharge through the charge port — MG, BYD, Hyundai, Kia and a growing number of others. The adapter plugs into the car’s Type 2 socket and gives you a standard NZ outlet, typically rated to 10A or 15A depending on the vehicle. With a battery in the 60–80kWh range, that’s days of running a fridge and lights, not hours.
The practical uses are better than the marketing suggests: power tools on a site with no supply, a chilly bin and coffee machine at a campsite, a caravan or bach without mains, and outages. During a storm cut, an EV with V2L will keep a fridge, freezer, modem and phone charging going comfortably.
Check your model supports V2L before ordering — the physical connector fits many cars that won’t actually deliver power, since the vehicle’s software has to enable discharge. The car charging guides note V2L capability by model, or get in touch and we’ll confirm.
