Two powertrains, home charging covered

The Leapmotor B10 is a compact SUV offered as a pure-electric EV or a petrol range-extender (Ultra Hybrid). The B10 EV comes in Life (56.2kWh, 361km WLTP) and Design (67.1kWh, 434km WLTP) and supports 11kW AC — so a three-phase charger charges it faster if you have 3 phase at home. Most homes are only single phase so a single phase chagrer will still suit most peoples needs. 

The B10 Ultra Hybrid pairs an 18.8kWh battery (86km electric, up to 900km combined) with a 1.5-litre generator engine, and caps AC at 6.6kW — a single-phase charger is all it needs. Both are LFP-friendly for daily 100% charging.

Best home chargers for the Leapmotor B10

For the B10 EV, a three-phase 22kW charger unlocks its 11kW AC rate — but our single-phase 7.4kW chargers still charge it overnight. For the Ultra Hybrid, a single-phase 7.4kW charger is all you need (it caps at 6.6kW). Either way, scheduling for night rates and solar diversion are where the real savings are.

Only the B10 EV benefits from three-phase — it charges at up to 11kW AC. (The Ultra Hybrid caps at 6.6kW, so single-phase is all it needs.)

Your house needs to be pre-wired for three-phase from the street — most NZ houses only have single-phase. Check the switchboard for a main breaker with three switches joined as one, or Phase 1/2/3 labels.

7.4kW chargers (single-phase)

Our 7.4kW home chargers charge the B10 EV overnight and top up the Ultra Hybrid’s smaller battery in under 3 hours. Choose a charger with the cable attached, or the untethered socket version if you’re buying your own Type 2 cable.

Load monitoring prevents overloading your mains while charging. Solar diversion varies charging power to match your solar generation. Scheduling via the free app makes the most of off-peak rates. And they’re EECA approved, meeting AS/NZS and WorkSafe standards.

Charge times from 10% to 100% for each variant with different home chargers. The B10 EV columns cover the Life (56.2kWh) and Design (67.1kWh); the Ultra Hybrid has an 18.8kWh battery so tops up much faster. The last few percent slow down as the cells balance, so times below are estimates.

Both B10 models come with Vehicle-to-Load as standard, letting you run tools, appliances or devices straight from the car’s battery — great for camping, worksites, or backup power in an outage. Public charging with the Leapmotor B10 (NZ)

DC fast charging (CCS2)

The B10 EV supports up to 168kW DC (Design; ~140kW Life), 10–80% in ~26 min. The Ultra Hybrid does up to 46.6kW DC, 30–80% in ~30 min — though as a range-extender you’ll rarely need public DC, since the petrol engine handles long trips. DC chargers have cables attached — no need to bring your own.

Type 2 public AC chargers are found at supermarkets, malls, hotels and motels — you’ll need to bring your own cable for these.

What cable do I need for public AC charging?

We recommend a Type 2 to Type 2 cable (22kW-rated) in 5m. The B10 EV’s maximum AC charge speed is 11kW, so the 22kW cable ensures you get full speed; it also covers the Ultra Hybrid’s 6.6kW. The majority of free public chargers use a Type 2 socket; some have a cable hard-wired, so a cable isn’t needed 100% of the time.
