The VIOFO HK4 Hardwire Kit connects your dash cam directly to your vehicle’s fuse box, delivering constant 12–24V power and unlocking parking mode protection — so your camera keeps recording even when the car is off.
Compatible With
The HK4 is designed for VIOFO dash cams with a Type-C USB power port:
- A229 Plus (1CH/2CH/3CH and W variants)
- A229 Pro (1CH/2CH/3CH and W variants)
- A229 Ultra (1CH/2CH/3CH and W variants)
- A119 Mini 2
- A119M Pro
- T130
- WM1
Not compatible with the A329S series or A329T series — those models require the HK6 hardwire kit to enable Hybrid Parking Mode and Bluetooth voltage display.
Not compatible with the older A119 V3 or any A129 series dash cams — those require the Mini USB HK3 kit.
Why You Need a Hardwire Kit
Your dash cam’s standard 12V cigarette-lighter plug only powers the camera while the car is running. The moment you switch off, your camera goes off too — meaning if someone hits your parked car, runs a key down the side, or breaks in overnight, you have no footage. A hardwire kit solves that by drawing power directly from your fuse box, keeping your dash cam alive and recording 24/7.
Three Parking Modes Unlocked
With the HK4 connected, your VIOFO dash cam can record while parked using one of three modes:
- Auto Event Detection: the camera sleeps until motion or impact is detected, then records the incident — saves storage and battery while still capturing what matters
- Time-Lapse: records continuously at a slower frame rate, condensing hours of parking into a manageable file size
- Low Bitrate Continuous: records normally but at reduced bitrate, giving you full coverage without filling up your microSD card
Built-in Battery Protection
Hardwire kits without low-voltage cutoff can drain your car battery flat overnight — a real risk that puts people off parking mode entirely. The HK4 includes configurable low-voltage protection that automatically shuts off power when your battery drops below a safe threshold, so you’ll never come back to a dead car. Cutoff voltage is adjustable in the VIOFO app between 11.6V and 12.4V (12V vehicles) or 23.2V and 24.8V (24V vehicles).
What’s Included
- 4 metres / 13.1ft of cable — long enough to route discreetly through your headliner from windscreen to fuse box
- Type-C USB connector for the dash cam end
- Mini fuse tap holder (other fuse types available — see options)
- Earth wire ring terminal
Installation
Installation is straightforward for anyone comfortable working under their dashboard, but most customers prefer to have it professionally fitted (typically $80–150 at an auto electrician). The kit connects to two fuse positions: one constant power circuit (always live, used for parking mode) and one switched/ignition circuit (only live when the car is on, used to detect when the engine starts). The earth wire bolts to any clean chassis ground point.
If you’re not sure which fuse positions to use in your specific vehicle, an auto electrician will know — every car is different. The HK4 ships with a generic Mini fuse tap; if your fuse box uses a different style (ATO, Micro2, Micro3, or Mini Low Profile), you may need to source a matching adapter or order the appropriate fuse tap variant.
Ideal For
- Anyone who parks on the street, in shared driveways, or at workplaces where damage and theft are risks
- Owners of new or premium vehicles where a single park-up incident costs more than the kit pays for itself
- Fleet vehicles where 24/7 recording is required for insurance or operational reasons
- Anyone who already has a compatible VIOFO dash cam and wants to enable its full feature set
