A single-phase 7.4kW (32A) charger supplies more than the car can take, so every Tiggo CSH charges at its full 6.6kW: about 2.8 hours for the Tiggo 7 and 8, or 5.2 hours for the Tiggo 9’s larger pack.
Load monitoring prevents overloading your mains while charging. Solar diversion varies charging power to match your solar generation — a strong match for a PHEV, since a modest solar array can cover most of a Tiggo 7 or 8 charge. Scheduling via the free app makes the most of off-peak rates.

Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) pairs a turbo-petrol engine with an electric drive system and a large plug-in battery. The Tiggo 7 (five-seat medium SUV) and Tiggo 8 (seven-seat large SUV) use the same 18.4kWh powertrain, while the flagship Tiggo 9 adds all-wheel drive and nearly double the battery.
For home charging they behave identically: Type 2, 6.6kW maximum AC. What changes is how long a full charge takes, and how quickly each will accept DC on the road.

A portable Type 2 charger works well on a battery this size. A 10A unit plugs into a standard household socket and fills a Tiggo 7 or 8 overnight in around 8 hours. On the Tiggo 9’s larger pack it takes about 15 hours, so a wall charger makes more sense there.
Any portable charger for a Tiggo CSH must have a Type 2 vehicle connector.

Vehicle-side plug: Type 2. You’ll need your own Type 2 to Type 2 cable for public AC chargers and for any untethered (socket-only) wall charger. We recommend 5m.
Because the car caps at 6.6kW, a single-phase cable is sufficient. A 22kW three-phase cable also works and is worth considering only if you may later own a car that charges faster.
DC fast chargers have their cables attached, so nothing extra is needed there.

The Tiggo Super Hybrid range supports Vehicle-to-Load at up to 3.3kW through a plug-in adapter that gives you a standard New Zealand socket — enough for a fridge, lights, kettle, projector or many portable tools. Because the petrol engine can recharge the battery, a plug-in hybrid makes a particularly practical power source on a worksite or campsite.

DC fast charging (CCS2): unusual on a plug-in hybrid and genuinely useful. The Tiggo 7 and 8 accept up to 40kW and the Tiggo 9 up to 71kW, both taking 30–80% in around 20 minutes. Charging slows sharply above 80%, so on a road trip a short stop to 80% and back on the road beats waiting for a full battery. DC chargers have cables attached.

No, and there is no benefit in buying one for these cars. The onboard charger is limited to 6.6kW, so a 22kW three-phase charger charges no faster than a 7.4kW single-phase unit. Three-phase is only worth it if you also charge a vehicle that can use it.

No — it drives as a hybrid on petrol alone. But the advertised fuel figures assume a charged battery, and with 90km (Tiggo 7 and 8) or around 146km (Tiggo 9) of electric range, most NZ daily driving can be done without petrol if you charge at home. That’s where a wall charger pays for itself.
The Tiggo 7 and 8 use an LFP battery, which is generally more tolerant of regular 100% charging than many nickel-based EV batteries. Follow the charging guidance in your vehicle manual for your specific model.
