The VIOFO 8M Rear Camera Cable is an extended-length replacement cable for VIOFO A229 Plus and A229 Pro 2-channel and 3-channel dash cams — designed for vehicles where the standard 6m cable doesn’t reach.
When You Need a Longer Cable
Every A229 Plus 2CH and A229 Pro 2CH ships with a 6m rear camera cable as standard. This is sufficient for most sedans, hatchbacks, and small SUVs, but in larger vehicles the standard cable can fall short. The 8m cable adds 2 metres of length — enough to comfortably reach in:
- Large SUVs and people-movers: Toyota Highlander, Mazda CX-9, Kia Carnival, Hyundai Palisade
- Utes with canopies or hardlids: where the rear camera mounts on the canopy rear glass
- Station wagons: Subaru Outback, Skoda Octavia, BMW Touring
- Vans: Toyota Hiace, Ford Transit Custom, VW Transporter
- Vehicles with complex cable routing: where you need extra slack to route around airbags, headliner clips, or B-pillar trim
Compatible With
This cable is specifically designed for the A229 Plus and A229 Pro series rear and interior cameras:
- A229 Plus 2CH and 3CH
- A229 Pro 2CH and 3CH
- A229 Plus-W and A229 Pro-W variants
- RC320 1080P rear camera (sold separately)
- RE200 2K rear camera (sold separately)
- RWC200 waterproof rear camera (sold separately)
- RF200 1080P infrared interior camera (sold separately)
Not compatible with the A329S, A329T, or A229 Ultra series — those use a different coaxial cable. For A329S/A329T rear cameras, you need the 10M Coaxial Rear Cable for A329S.
Better Than Joining Two Cables
Some installers try to extend a standard cable using a third-party joiner or splice — this is a bad idea. Every connection introduces signal loss, potential moisture ingress, and a failure point that’s almost impossible to diagnose later if your rear camera stops working. A single continuous cable from VIOFO is the correct solution: factory-terminated connectors at both ends, no splices, no signal degradation.
What’s Included
- 1 × 8 metre rear camera cable
- VIOFO proprietary 4-pin connectors at both ends
Ideal For
- Owners of larger vehicles where the standard 6m cable is too short
- Anyone planning a careful installation with extra slack for routing around airbags and trim
- Vehicles where the dash cam is mounted on the passenger side rather than centre, increasing the cable distance needed
- Replacement for damaged original cables (e.g., from previous installation attempts or rodent damage)
