Nissan Ariya public charging

Replacing the popular Leaf the Ariya has been built from the ground up as a brand-new vehicle for Nissan. New Zealand has 3 models with 2 battery sizes;
Engage with a 66kWh battery
Advance with a 66kWh battery
Evolve with the largest 91kWh battery.

The Ariya comes with a trickle charger that will take 38 hours to charge the Engage and Advance.
The Evolve will take 52 hours to fully charge from the 8a trickle charger.

We recommend investing in one of our wallbox ev chargers to safely fully charge overnight.

Public charging with the Nissan Ariya

There two types of public chargers; DC CCS fast charger and AC chargers.

The DC CCS charger.
This is a DC fast charger; these chargers have the cables attached so there is no need to bring your own.

The Ariya supports up to 130kW DC charging, this will charge the Evolve from 0% to 80% in around 40min and the other models in around 28min. Charging after 80% does slow down, so for you are better to split the charging up for longer trips.

Type 2 Public AC chargers like the ones you find a super markets, malls, hotels & Motels. You will need to bring your own cable for these. Plug share will show the chargers in your area and you can see what sort of cables are needed.

What sort of cable do I need for Public charging?

We recommend a 7kW Type 2 to Type 2 cable. 5m will cover most situations.
The majority of free public chargers use the Type 2 Socket, so this cable will allow you to use the chargers. Note Some public charges have a Type 2 hard wired so a cable is not needed 100% of the time.

Recommended home chargers for the Ariya

The Ariya supports single phase charging so there is no speed gain by using a 3 phase charger. Our 7kW home charger suits most people’s needs. If you want to make the most of night rates and scheduled charging then our smart chargers can do this. Our chargers also have Solar Diversion to charge your car with Solar.

You can choose from the version with a socket on the front and buy a separate cable that can be used for public charging. Or get the version with the cable attached.
