This optional energy meter will allow advanced load balancing features on the Autel Maxi single phase charger.
The meter is installed at the switch board and communicates back to the charger via a data cable sending the total home load back to the charger.
This will ensure you do not overload your switch board and you can also make use of Solar generation to prevent export from the grid.
Select from the following modes on the charger.
Dynamic load balance
The charger and energy meter will monitor your total house draw. If this draw exceeds the maximum limit the charge rate will be reduced to avoid tripping the breaker.
Most homes are rated to 63a, a car charging can use up to 32a so you are using about half of your homes capacity.
Great if you are on a power plan that offers free power and you want to have all your appliances running at the same time.
Dynamic Load with multiple chargers
The first charger is connected to the energy meter, the rest will communicate via WIFI/LAN back to the first charger to enable sharing of the total capacity. Great if you have 2x EV’s and want 2 chargers installed.
Solar Mode
Select from three Solar modes.
Full Green Mode: This will only use the excess power that is being generated by your solar.
So if you are exporting say 10a to the grid then the charger will put 10a in to the car. This will vary based on how much excess energy is being generated. A minimum of 6a is required to start charging an EV.
Green Priority: When in green priority mode the charger will ramp up and down based on how much excess would usually be exported to the grid. However in this mode when the sun goes down or behind a cloud it will charge at the minimum from the grid as a top up. The minimum a car can charge is 6a.
Speed priority: This will ignore what the solar is doing and will top up the car as fast as the charger and car is capable of.
Install: This is a rail mounter energy meter and is installed by the electrician at the switch board. The included CT clamp simply clamps around the incoming main cable.
A twisted pair cable is required between the meter and the charger.
We recommend using KNX Bus cable.
